This picture was taken a few weeks ago. This cab was put back together after an accident and I drove it last night.

Okay whats the criteria for replacing a NYC Taxi before TLC regulations say that you have to.
Does'nt the cab companies insurance company look at it and total it or will the company just not even make a claim and decide to just repair it.

Another question
When you guys get new cabs do they come directly from the Ford factory because obviously you guys have Crown Victoria Taxi Packages or do they go to a dealership and buy them?

Hi MJ, After about a year on the road the book value of the cab is close to zero. So unless it was pretty new the company will repair it which sometimes means putting it totally back together. (I once drove a cab that was a composite of two cabs which had both been in accidents. They were literally welded together.)
They go to a dealship to buy new taxis.
